Excess pregnancy weight increases the risks of long term weight gain. Weight gain is sometimes essential during the pregnancy period, but shedding them off can be very hard. But, what can be tougher than delivering that baby? Excess pregnancy weight when neglected can be stay for a very long time.

Pregnancy does put on weight, and the normal weight gain is around 25 to 35 pounds for average weight women. This would also vary according to the actual weight of women before pregnancy and whether expecting twins or triplets. At the same time, weight gain comes from the baby and its affairs like fats that would be used for delivery and breast feeding. The weight gain is actually put on more noticeably during the first trimester, but actually, this is a steady progress with approximately 1 pound a week. One of the most important reminders is to never try to lose weight while pregnant.

After pregnancy, this is when the battle begins with losing the pregnancy weights. An average weight woman will instantly lose about 18 or so ponds after birth. Though, it is not advisable to go into hard exercises after birth. The usual grace period is from two to three months, and this is just with light exercises. At the same time, the best way to control the weight is to use the fats that are stored by the body for breastfeeding. There are studies that relate the amount of breast feeding helps in doing away the pregnancy fats.

Most fitness experts would recommend that you lose weight within the time frame that you gained them. Thus, within an average of nine months, though some would put an allowance up to within a year. However, there are also studies that state that the best time frame of losing the fats is within six months. This avoids the onset of obesity for women.

There are many studies that found that the approximate weight gain is around 20 pounds for an average weight. But when one gained 40 up to 100 pounds, there is very little chance of losing it, unless there is a major shift to healthy lifestyle. Healthy lifestyle means having physical activities, like jogging, or cardio vascular exercises, this should be coupled with a very healthy diet.

Whatever the statistics may say, any kind of neglected fats will always result to long term weigh gain, so it should always be emphasized that exercise and diet is a very important part of health regimen. This can also go as far as saying that pregnancy planning should also include losing the extra fats.
