Exercise of the month (01/2007)

 SLDeadLift Calf work - (intermediate to advanced)
(Back, Legs, Calves and Stability)

        


1- Stand on the ball of your feet on a 3 inch platform.
2- Hold a barbell in a Deadlift position (Bar close to the legs, back straight, abdominals tight and head positioned over the ball of the feet)
3- Pull the bar straight up keeping your head straight and your chest out.
4- Your hips should extend as your knees extend, keep your balance and abdominals tight.
5- As you move up, keep the weight over the ball of your feet. Move forward very slightly forward to keep balance and always keep the bar close to you.
6- Repeat 6 to 8 times.

 

  Another movement that I really like to combine with the SLDeadlift is the triple steps over the bar.

It will make a great workout on the calves and legs of your athletes by putting the emphasis on working on the ball of the feet.
